Dear Parents,
It is hard to believe that the Thanksgiving holiday is
close at hand. I hope each of you has
an opportunity to share this holiday with those
special people in your lives.
The Middle School is a busy place. We have a
visiting author, Will Hobbs, on November 9. Our
students will have the unique chance to meet Mr.
Hobbs in grade level assemblies. He will also be
available to autograph books during 9th period. We are
very fortunate to have Mr. Hobbs as our guest.
Thanks to Mrs. Little, our librarian, for facilitating his
visit.
Our first report cards will be sent home with
students on Friday, November 17. The report cards
come home in an envelope that parents must sign. If
you have questions about a particular grade or
comment, please call the appropriate teacher at 655-
1324.
The Junior High musical will be presented on
Thursday, November 16 at 7:00 in the high school
auditorium. Our students will see its highlights during
an assembly. The directors, actors, and stage crew
have worked very hard. I am sure it will be an
excellent performance. Please join us.
The Middle School PTA is sponsoring a guest
speaker, Mike Lynch, at their November 8 meeting.
The business portion of the meeting will begin at 6:30
with the speaker immediately following. Please come!
You are a vital part of your child's success in school
and your participation is important.
Enjoy a happy and safe holiday!

In addition, our resident safety coordinator, Mr.
Craig Benson, visited many classrooms to share his
experiences as an archaeologist in the Southwest
United States. Both The Mazaand Kokopelli’s Flute
take place in that region of the country. Mr. Benson
brought a sandstone pictograph, Hopi Kachinas, and
other items to help our students appreciate the area’s
beauty and historical importance. We feel very
fortunate to have discovered this unique resource
person right here in our school and the teachers were
as fascinated as the students!
Mr. Hobbs’ books will be available for purchase
before his visit, November 1-8. Purchases may be
made before and after school and during lunch periods.
We have paperbacks and hardcovers, and he will be
signing them the day of the visit. If an autograph is
desired, we will have slips to fill out for
name/dedication, etc. Classroom teachers will have
details on prices, or you can call the library at 655-
5226.

Sincerely,

Jean J. Regan, Ed.D.
Principal

Iam pleased to report that we had 100%
compliance and no one was refused entry to school
because they did not receive their first Hepatitis
immunization. This year the school allowed a grace
period since this was a new reqirement. This will
not happen in the future. All three injections must
be completed before entry to 7th grade in 2001. If
you are the parent of a 6th grader, your child must
have the first injection (of the series of three) by
March 2000. This is mandatory to ensure the series
will be completed by September. You can call me at
655-1332 for a clinic schedule. Each time your child
goes for an injection, please have it documented on
a paper you can give to the school, as I need proof of
the injection in writing from the doctor or clinic.
Fifth graders and even siblings in the elementary
school can get the series of shots done at the same
time.
All students need a physical for 7th grade. Please
try to have this done in the spring or summer. 7th
graders can play modified sports through the school.
However, they cannot try out, practice or play in a
sport unless they have a currrent physical on file
with me in the Health Office. The physical is good
for one year only; therefore,if you have it done in
March it will run out in March and your child will
need a new one to finish winter sports or participate
in spring sports.
Dr. Osborn will be in school on Tuesday, November
14th for all those students in 7th grade, new
students, children due for triennial reviews, etc. who
have not had their mandatory physical. Unless a
private physical is completed and in my office before
November 10, your child will be seeing Dr. Osborn
that day.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding
your child, please call me at 655-1332. Thanks.
Diane Belton, R.N.
