Step 3: Bibliography Cards

The following sample bibliography cards should cover most of

the possible sources that you will use. Should you have any trouble,

check with me, Mrs. Reutter, or Mrs. Butler for help. There are

also sheets containing sample bibliography cards on the bulletin

board in the teaching classroom of the library.

Writing bibliography cards is very exacting work. If you do

them correctly the first time, you will save yourself a great deal of

time later, and you will receive a much better grade on this section

of the research paper. Every capital letter, period, and comma is

important, and you will not be able to begin note taking until your

list of sources (bibliography cards) is complete.

Remember to list all those sources you are using on your

working bibliography. This list may change as you write your

paper, and therefore it is necessary for you to update this list as you

go along. Notice that there is even a sample bibliography card for

the Internet. Make sure that you use it.
