Caroline and Jess are a bit nervous...They’ve
never met their grandmother Ravenell, but since their ma
has recently died, and Pa was injured in a barn raising
accident, their grandmother reluctantly agreed to come all
the way from Charleston, South Carolina to care for her
daughter’s family. Upon her arrival, the children discover
their grandmother to be “brisk and business-like”, and are
further disappointed when she tells them to call her Mrs.
Ravenell! Does it have to take a tornado and its fury to
open Mrs. Ravenell’s eyes and heart to the wonders of
her grandchildren and life in North Dakota? Read Dakota
Spring and discover the answer.

Cazenovia Lake Week
Fourth graders will participate in the third annual
Cazenovia Lake Week, May 1 - 5. Classroom activities,
guest speakers and field trips will focus on Cazenovia
Lake and it’s watershed. History, plants, fish and insects
as well as lake ecology and watershed protection will be
studied. Students will learn that the lake helps to make
our community special, and that each one of us can make
a difference when it comes to lake protection.
Take a moment to visit the fourth grade wing, it will
be turned into an underwater haven, featuring all sorts of
student designed fish. Visit a classroom and observe the
exciting projects. Watch for the weed harvester and the
sheriffs patrol boat in the parking lot. Most important, ask
a fourth grader what he’s learning about the lake, and be
amazed.
Cazenovia Lake Week is funded through the
enrichment committee and is coordinated by Julia Smith.

Traffic on the Go!
|
 |
Mr. Tom Davies does the traffic report for TK99. On
April 11th he did the broadcast from Mrs. Patsy Hagan’s
classroom. Kara M., Ben S. and Sam T. read their speeches
on the radio. Emily D. did a commercial. At the conclusion,
the entire class shouted “So long for now”. It was a fun
experience for all.
