The people of Cheshire, Massachusetts were a proud
bunch - proud of their cheddar cheese making abilities.
Upon hearing that President Thomas Jefferson was serving
Norton, Connecticut cheese at the White House, they
decided that they must do something about it! Their solution
was to create the largest cheddar cheese ever made, and
present it to President Jefferson. After much trial, but more
tribulation, they succeeded. Read A Big Cheese For the
White House and find out how the people of Cheshire
ensured that only the finest (and largest) Cheshire cheese
graced the White House from 1802 to 1805.
