Extra-Curricular Code Of
Conduct Established
Students at Cazenovia High
School who choose to participate in any
extracurricular activities this year will be bound
by a revised code of conduct. The new policy
represents a two fold change.
First, the former policy,
generally recognized as the athletic code, was
enforced solely for those who were involved with
the interscholastic athletics program. Beginning
this school year, students who are involved in any
extra-curricular activity (including athletics)
will be expected to follow the same code of
conduct. This will include students who are
active in student government, student council,
drama club, or any of the other activity programs
offered at the school.
The second change represented in
the revised code of conduct will hold students
involved in any extracurricular activity
responsible for adhering to the rules and
regulations it contains throughout the school
year. For example, a student who joins a club
or activity program will be expected to follow the
rules contained within the code of conduct
throughout the school year, even if the actual
events associated with that activity happen at a
time other than when a violation of the code of
conduct took place.
Athletes will be bound be the
rules of the code of conduct for three consecutive
sport seasons beginning with their current season
and including the time between those seasons
(except during the summer months). For example, if
a student plays on a fall sports team and a spring
sports team, they would be expected to adhere to
the district's code of conduct throughout the
winter and up to the start of the spring season,
when they would again sign a new code of conduct.
If a student participates only on a fall team, they
would be bound by the code of conduct until the
start of the next fall sports season.
Copies of the revised code of
conduct are available in the high school office and
the athletic office.
